Rishi Sunak to become Britain’s next Prime Minister, Mordaunt pulls out

Rishi Sunak, the third prime minister to take office this year, has won the contest to lead the Conservative Party.
The former Treasury chief will be the first person of colour to govern Britain, and his goal will be to stabilise the party and the nation during a period of economic and political unrest.
On Monday, his lone opponent, Penny Mordaunt, gave in and withdrew (local time).

He will succeed Liz Truss, who resigned as prime minister last week after 45 turbulent days in office, as leader of the governing party.
More will follow.

Britain’s next prime minister will be Rishi Sunak when Mordaunt withdraws.
