After banks reserved depositors’ money months ago, the frequent bank raids in Lebanon by incensed individuals came back to the fore.
Wafik Muhammad Kalu, a young guy, barged into the Bank of Lebanon and the Diaspora in the southern city of Sidon and threatened to set himself on fire.
The oppressed man asked the bank to hand over $ 5,000 from his deposit to cover an urgent practical cost of his infant son, who did not exceed his second month and who suffers from a hole in the heart, according to local media.

Security personnel arrived, cordoned off the bank, and started bargaining with him to get him to leave.
The bank’s founder, Mohamed Kalou, responded by explaining that he had accompanied him after the manager had promised to give him his deposit today once the necessary paperwork had been produced over the previous week.
He also stressed that his two -month -old grandson needs an urgent operation, to suffer from a hole in his heart.

He also stressed that the family has 5 accounts in different banks, but they only demanded an amount of $ 5,000 to cover the cost of the operation, stressing that his son does not want anyone to harm anyone, and not an armed. They treated us like we were begging or sharpening, he claimed.

It is noteworthy that the nation, which is experiencing its worst economic and living conditions, saw a series of simultaneous bank incursions last month (September 2022) in various regions.
