Maj.-Gen. Dany Fortin’s sexual assault trial resumes in Quebec

On Monday morning, the third day of the sexual assault trial against Maj.-Gen. Dany Fortin is scheduled to begin in a courtroom in Gatineau.
In September, Fortin testified that he was innocent of all charges and that he never had any physical contact with the woman who had brought the specific accusations against him.

The judge presiding over the case was informed by a lady whose identity is protected by a publication prohibition that she “without a doubt” recognised Fortin as the person who attacked her one evening in 1988.
According to the complainant, Fortin was masturbating with one of her hands when she woke up in her dorm room at the military institution in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec.
The defence attorney for Fortin stated that she would vehemently reject the accuser’s identification of Fortin.

Prior to his removal in May 2021 due to an inquiry into the claim, which he is also contesting in Federal Court, he served as the military officer in charge of the federal government’s COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
