Iran: America does not want to revive the nuclear agreement

In a complete confusion and contradiction with what was announced two days ago, Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullah, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, announced that the United States does not want to revive the nuclear agreement.
In remarks made today, Monday, the spokesman claimed that Washington lacks the political will to resurrect the 2015 nuclear agreement.

However, Abdullah was confirmed last Saturday that the American administration appears in a hurry to reach a nuclear agreement with his country, despite the statement of US officials that the agreement was no longer their priorities.
Washington has also been accused of attempting to “fuse” the Iranian protesters while secretly negotiating a deal in order to extract concessions.

What caused the American Foreign Ministry to refute these accusations, stating that the only message it currently sent to the Iranian government is to “stop killing the people,” in reference to the government’s repression of the protests that have been taking place across the nation since the middle of last month, and to denounce the killing of the twenty-year-old and millions of followers.

Ned Price, the spokeswoman for the US State Department, has consistently stated that the attempts made in recent weeks to create a road plan to repair the deteriorating accord “is not the focus of Washington’s interest at the present time.

Notably, Joseph Borrell, the European Union’s lead negotiator on nuclear issues, stated in August of last year that a restart of negotiations was unlikely given how far along they had gotten before the Iranian response to the proposed European text to resurrect the agreement from which the US withdrew in 2018.

The European Union unveiled a final text to resolve the “joint action plan” conundrum on August 8th, 2022, following arduous and difficult tours and talks that began in Vienna in late April (2021) and lasted 16 months.
Midway through August, Borrell received the first Iranian response, which was followed by the American reaction to Iranian observations and requests. This caused Tehran to respond and stall negotiations by re-demanding items that had previously been dropped, such as the Atomic Agency investigations.
