In a statement published on the “Telegram” app, the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure claimed that “Russia deliberately obstructs the full implementation of the grain project, and as a result, these (Ukrainian) ports did not function until 25 to 30 percent of its energy a few days ago.
” The agreement, in which the United Nations and Turkey mediated last July, paved the way for Ukraine to resume grain exports from the ports overlooking the Black Sea, which has been closed since the start of the Russian military attack.
Moscow has secured assurances for its exports of grains and fertiliser.
The deal was renewed after Ukraine requested it, but questions over whether Russia will consent to its continuation past the deadline of November 19 have grown as a result of Moscow’s repeated criticisms of its execution.
Gennady Gatilov, the Russian ambassador to the UN in Geneva, told Reuters that Moscow has sent a letter to Antonio Guterres, the UN secretary general, outlining a number of grievances.
A ship hired by the United Nations World Food Program that was bringing 40,000 tonnes of wheat from the port of Cornomorsk to Yemen was among the ships that departed on Sunday. Ukrainian President Voludmir Zellinski hailed this development.
