YouTube adds a distinctive sign of videos that provide reliable health information

In an effort to lessen the consequences of false and misleading content on the platform, YouTube has started adding a distinguishing badge to the films that offer trustworthy health information.
Graham’s spores, YouTube director of the YouTube platform, Health, said that a new formula was prepared to provide information with the aim of facilitating the classification of any health -related video and can be viewed.

In a statement to the German News Agency (dpa), Graham stated that the YouTube platform will roll out the new feature first in Germany. He noted the importance of “trusted sources” for health-related content for YouTube, which receives more than two billion visitors annually from all around the world.

As part of a campaign to counteract misinformation related to the function of the new Corona virus, the European Commission issued a warning in the middle of 2020 about incorrect material on YouTube. YouTube has come under fire for broadcasting false and misleading health information.

The postings broadcast by channels on YouTube with the “Health” brand will also be distinguishable when they appear on search pages for health-related material, which will make it easier for viewers to find trustworthy health information.

The channels of health and educational institutions, ministries of health, government institutions and medical magazines will be at the forefront of the channels that will be granted the “Health” brand, as these agencies can submit requests to obtain the distinctive brand as of October 27.
Early in 2023, the “YouTube Health” platform is anticipated to go live.

The World Health Organization has approved the criteria set by YouTube to designate sources of health material, and it uses a set of standards created by the National Academy of Medicine, an American non-governmental organisation, to determine which sources are deserving of the “Health” label.

YouTube now adds a recognisable symbol to videos that offer trustworthy medical advice.
