The beginning of the Nouakchott, the capital of Islamic culture, preparations was declared by the Mauritanian Minister of Culture, Mohamed Ould Asidat.
Following his return from the work of the twelfth session of the Information Ministers Conference of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, held in Turkey, Ould Asidat stated in a press release that Mauritania had started the practical preparations to have Nouakchott serve as the capital of Islamic culture for the year 2023. He also requested assistance from the member states of the organisation The Islamic Scientist for Education, Science, and Culture (ISESCO).
The declaration designating Nouakchott as the cultural capital of 2023 was approved by the Mauritanian cabinet last week.
Nouakchott will be the capital of Islamic culture in 2023, according to the Mauritanian Minister of Culture.
