Today, Sunday, French President Emmanuel Macron emphasised that if the Ukrainians choose peace, it is achievable.
At the start of a peace summit in Rome today, Macron stated, citing Agence France-Presse, “We should not let peace today be in the form of Russian authority, that peace is attainable only when the Ukrainians decide.”
As Al -Arabiya channel quoted the French President, saying that “nothing justifies the Russian war in Ukraine,” noting that “the peace decision should not be left hostage to the Russians. ”
Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, and the president of France had urged for a “return to the negotiation table,” emphasising that France would be giving Kyiv anti-aircraft defence systems.
Macron: If Ukraine’s inhabitants choose peace, it is doable.
