Iran protests trigger solidarity rallies in US, Europe

On Saturday (local time), chanting mobs marched through the streets of Berlin, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles to voice their solidarity for Iranian protesters who are facing a brutal government crackdown after Mahsa Amini, 22, died while in the morality police’s care.
The Iranian flag’s colours of green, white, and red were worn by thousands of men and women of all ages as they chanted on the US National Mall. “Be afraid. Be terrified.

Before the throng marched to the White House, several yelled, “We are one in this. Say who she is! Mahsa!”
Iranians from all around the Washington, DC, area attended the protests that were organised by local activists from throughout the country. Some Iranians even travelled from Toronto to participate.
The largest concentration of Iranians outside of Iran can be seen in Los Angeles, where a crowd of demonstrators formed a slow-moving procession along blocks of a closed downtown roadway.

They waved hundreds of Iranian flags at the horizon, turning it into an undulating wave of red, white, and green as they yelled for the overthrow of the Iranian regime.
They all cried out in unison, “We want freedom.
Shooka Scharm, an attorney, was sporting a T-shirt that read “Women, Life, Freedom” in both English and Farsi. Her parents fled the Iranian revolution and gave birth to her in the US. In Iran “women are like a second-class citizen and they are sick of it,” Scharm said.

She claimed that women have minimal rights in areas like divorce and child custody, are frequently left out of literature, and can be jailed for wearing the wrong cosmetics colour. “Against extraordinary odds, Iranian women are fighting for fundamental human rights,”
According to the Biden administration, if the violence against Iranian civilians continues, it will explore for ways to apply additional sanctions against the Iranian regime.

More anti-government demonstrations occurred in Tehran on Saturday at a number of institutions. Following Amiri’s passing on September 16, the nation-wide campaign in Iran initially concentrated on the nation’s obligatory headscarf covering for women. Since the 2009 Green Movement after disputed elections, the Iranian protests have grown into the Islamic Republic’s biggest threat.

According to rights groups, Iran’s security forces have dispersed gatherings in that country with live ammunition and tear gas, killing over 200 people, including teenage girls.
Nearly 40,000 people gathered in Berlin to offer support for the women and activists who have been spearheading the protest in Iran over the past few weeks.

The Woman Life Freedom Collective organised the demonstrations in Berlin, which started near the Victory Column in the Tiergarten park and continued as a march through the heart of the city.
Some of the protesters there claimed to have travelled from other parts of Germany and other European nations to offer their solidarity.
Shakib Lolo, an Iranian living in the Netherlands, stated, “It is extremely vital for us to be here, to be the voice of the people of Iran, who are slain on the streets.”

“And this is a revolution in Iran; it is no longer a protest. And the world’s citizens must witness it.
