Rishi Sonak, a former finance minister for the United Kingdom, has declared his candidacy to succeed outgoing prime minister Liz Tarras.
Sonak tweeted on Sunday, “The United Kingdom is a lovely country, but we are suffering a terrible economic crisis,” according to the British “BA Media” news agency.
“That is why I’m running for the Conservative Party’s leadership and your next prime minister,” he continued.
“I want to reunite our party, restore our economy, and help our nation,” Sonak concluded.
Six weeks after losing to Liz Tarish in the contest for the top job, Sonak declared his candidacy for the Conservative and Ministers Party leadership.
