A German parliamentary delegation arrives in Taiwan amid regional tensions

Six members of the German “Bundestag” arrived in Taiwan on Sunday, the second time a parliamentary delegation from Germany has visited the island this month due to rising tensions in the region.
The party was welcomed by the Taiwanese Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Ming-Lin Tsai upon its arrival at Tawyun International Airport. The trip was led by the Free Democratic Party’s Bundestag member Peter Hight. The visit is expected to end on Wednesday next week.

According to a statement sent to the German News Agency, Hait stated that the visit is a part of the ruling coalition in Germany’s promise to “help democratic countries,” adding that the major cause for concern is that China “wants to include Taiwan, by force if necessary” (dpa ).
We should continue to support Taiwan as a nation that shares our ideals of democracy and freedom notwithstanding the Chinese threat signals.

” Taiwan has enjoyed an independent government since 1949, but China is the democratic island as part of its territory and opposes any form of official communication between Taiwan and other countries.
Earlier this month, a group from the German Bundestag’s Parliamentary Friendship Group between Berlin and Tabipa visited Taiwan.
