Madrid strengthens the air shield on the eastern side of the NATO

In order to strengthen its military presence on NATO’s eastern flank and take part in the Allied deterring strategy against the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Spain will send “in the next few months” some fifteen fighters to Bulgaria and Romania.
A statement issued by the Spanish Ministry of Defense said on Saturday that Madrid will send between mid -November and in early December six Eurofighter fighters and 130 soldiers to Bulgaria, who will implement “air police training tasks.

It is anticipated that eight F18M planes and 130 Air Force personnel will “publish” in Romania between December and the end of March 2023.
According to the announcement, it was also distributed as “Radar for remote air control” starting on October 17 in Romania at the Chito base and lasting through the end of March 2023 (or until the end of June 2023).
38 soldiers dispatched on the run are able to “control the skies on the eastern side of NATO” because to this radar that operates seven days per week.

As the statement added, the issue is tied to “creating an air shield thanks to the increase in frequency of regular tasks for the Air Force.” As a result, Spain contributes to the efforts of “allies in response and deterrence.”
Spain has supplied 12 combatants to Bulgaria, Lithuania, and Estonia since February 2022, when the conflict in Ukraine first began.
