In the current session of the Frankfurt International Book Fair, the Egyptian General Book Authority, led by Dr. Ahmed Bahi Al-Din Al-Asasi, is hosting publishers from many nations in its pavilion under the patronage of the Minister of Culture, Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani.

The President of the Arab Publishers Union, Mohamed Rashad, the diplomatic attaché at the Egyptian consulate in Frankfurt, Ambassador Khaled Taha, Vice President of the Frankfurt International Book Fair Claudia Kayser, and numerous other publishers from around the world were in the front row of the audience.

The reception started with a welcome to attendees and an introduction to the Egyptian General Book Authority’s role as the Ministry of Culture’s representative in the publishing industry at the local and international levels. The authority also promoted the most significant publications and discussed its programme for translating Arabic works into other languages. This year, the authority shared a catalogue with fifty titles it has provided for translation into other languages.

The topic of the Cairo International Book Fair and its standing both locally and globally was also discussed.
The engineer, Heba El -Khouly, representative of the United Printing, Publishing and Digital Services Company, provided a detailed explanation of the digital platform of the Cairo International Book Fair, which started for the first time after the Korona pandemic, and Egypt was a forerunner in launching the first global virtual exhibition.

It also covered events that would be featured in the exhibition’s following session.
In addition, the Cairo International Book Fair’s professional programme, which debuted in its initial iteration last year, was promoted in front of the exhibition’s professional programme committee. The programme is what places the Cairo International Book Fair on the map of international fairs for the publishing sector.
