Province of Manitoba announces pending update to building, plumbing, fire, energy codes

The building, plumbing, fire, and energy rules in Manitoba are being updated to the most recent national model “as soon as reasonably possible.”
The goal is to implement the new codes six months before it is necessary.

Reg Helwer, the minister for labour, consumer protection, and government services, explained that the government made the decision to adopt the 2020 national standards rather than the 2015 versions in order to allow those professionals enough time to become familiar with the 2020 regulations.

“By lowering costs and enhancing competitiveness, the adoption of the 2020 editions will benefit industry in Manitoba and support the economic growth of our province.”
The province is currently forced to use the 2010 versions of the building, plumbing, and fire regulations, while the 2011 version of the energy code is in effect.
The press announcement claims that business professionals choose to skip the 2015 model and go straight to the 2020 version.

Building, plumbing, fire, and energy code updates are forthcoming, the province of Manitoba reveals.
