Prolific Kelowna offender arrested but released pending another court date

A Kelowna man who had eluded police on foot after being charged ten times in the Central Okanagan was apprehended once more.
The 33-year-old suspect was overheard discussing breaking into a parked car on Wednesday night in the 1800 block of Underhill Street, according to the RCMP.
When officers arrived on scene, the man was found in the passenger seat of the vehicle, rummaging through it.
The man allegedly hopped out of the car and fled when he saw the police.

He eventually jumped onto a bicycle and escaped the chasing policemen.
However, authorities said that a little while later, when officers saw a man who matched the suspect’s description on a bicycle, he was apprehended.
He was taken to the detachment where he was fingerprinted and photographed then released pending further investigation for the charge of mischief under $5,000.

According to Const. Mike Della-Paolera, “Kelowna RCMP are continuing this investigation, gathering surveillance and witness statements to ensure the best available evidence is provided to the courts who ultimately determine whether to move forward with charges.”
The suspect has at least 111 police interactions and 10 criminal charges, according to the police.
On December 16, the defendant will return to court to answer to the new accusation.

RCMP is requesting that anyone with information on this incident, as well as any surveillance or dashcam footage, get in touch with them.

Successful Kelowna offender is detained but released pending further court proceedings.
