A statement issued by the Indian Competition Authority late Thursday said that Google established its platform in a manner that enables it to remove its competitors such as YouTube and Chrome illegally.
The authority continued that the Google-designed “Android” operating system comes pre-installed on mobile devices with a number of its own programs, including its search engine, which “offered a larger competitive feature for Google’s search services compared to its competitors.”
“The markets should compete based on their efficiency,” she emphasized, “and Google must ensure that its policies do not undermine this competition.
The Authority levied a 13-dollar fine.
$4 billion (or $162 million) in rupees.
It requested that the American corporation refrain from entering into agreements with firms that make cellphones that would encourage them to market solely Android-based products or use their software exclusively.
India is tweeting at Google for abusing its position as the market leader in the country’s smartphone sector.
