Hebrew newspaper: Israeli -American efforts to include Jordan in the Negev Forum

News from Al-Madinah: Israeli media said that American and Israeli efforts were made to invite Jordan to the “Negev Forum”.
According to the Israeli publication “The Times of Israel,” as the “Negev Forum” states prepared for its meetings, efforts to include Jordan were stepped up. According to the publication, Jordanian officials “indicat[e][d] that they are not ready to join the Negev Forum as long as the Palestinians are not on the table.

The Negev Forum members, particularly the United States, “did not abandon the persuasion of Jordan to join despite the difficult battle,” she added. The Hebrew publication reported that “Morocco is preparing to host the second annual ministerial meeting next January, while the appointments have not yet been made, the UAE is preparing to hold the Negev Forum work in November.”

According to the newspaper, “one of the Arab ambassadors indicated that Jordan is particularly crucial, because its addition will appear that the Negev Forum does not look forward to resolving the Palestinian question.
According to the publication, the diplomat believed that because “all members do not care about the Palestinian issue to the same amount,” having a state like Jordan at the table “would guarantee that the subject will always stay on the agenda.”

According to the newspaper, among the options that were considered in recent months included inviting observers from Jordan and the Palestinian Authority to work groups, and it also stated that “Israel” had voiced its opposition to Palestinians being included on the highest-ranking committee.
