Georgia Meloni asks the Italian president to appoint a prime minister

Sergio Mattarella, the president of Italy, said on Friday that Georgia Meloni, who defeated the new fascists with her “Italian brothers” party in the legislative elections, will form the government and become the country’s first female prime minister.

The 45-year-old Roma’s daughter took a delegation to the Corinali Presidential Palace to meet with Sergio Mattarella as part of consultations before to the formation of the cabinet, and she was successful in “putting a stop to the demonization” of her party to fully take over after Mussolini.

Meloni, whose national right-wing coalition holds an absolute majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, is to be appointed as a result of these discussions, which began on Thursday and will end at noon.
Meloni proposed that the president give her the task of forming the government during a brief meeting. After what she called “an crucial moment for the nation,” Meloni said, “We are waiting for the President’s decision and we are already ready, we want to move forward as soon as possible.

‘We are ready to provide Italy a government tackling emergencies and the problems of our day with conscience and effectiveness,’ Meloni stated in a tweet on Twitter on Thursday night.

While the third largest economy in the eurozone, like its neighbours, is experiencing a difficult economic climate as a result of the energy and inflation crises, managing two worn-out allies like Silvio Berlusconi and Matteo Salvini, the populist leader of the anti-immigrant party, will be particularly challenging.

Georgia Meloni requests the appointment of a prime minister to the Italian president.
