FM Shoukry says gov’t keen on facilitating UK investments in various economic sectors

Cairo, October 19, 2022: Egyptian government is eager to facilitate British investments in a number of Egyptian economic areas, according to Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Wednesday.
The comments were made by Shoukry at a meeting with Gillian Keegan, the UK Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Africa, who is in Egypt to take part in Cairo Water Week (CWW 2022), which began on Sunday with the theme “Water at the Heart of Climate Action.”

Additionally, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to encouraging British investors to participate in large-scale national development projects and to take full advantage of Egypt’s excellent investment opportunities.
Shoukry praised the UK-Egypt Association Council’s first meeting in July and stressed the value of building on its conclusions to advance bilateral cooperation, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.

The Russian-Ukrainian crisis and its effects on world food and pricing trends, particularly for developing countries, were among the many regional and global concerns of concern highlighted by the two sides.
The official stated that they also looked into the conditions in Sudan and Libya.

Shoukry briefed the British official on the most recent organisational and thematic developments related to the upcoming global climate summit (COP27), which Egypt will host in the renowned Red Sea resort city of Sharm El Sheikh next month. Shoukry welcomed Britain’s interest in fostering cooperation on water issues.

The CWW 2022, which is set to end today, has brought together water players and stockholders from all over the world to present and discuss important problems, strategies, plans, and actions relating to climate-water issues.
Under the direction of President Abdel Fatah El Sisi, it was organised by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation in cooperation with local, regional, and international partners.

Over 1,000 people, including 16 ministerial delegations, 54 official delegations, and 66 pertinent international organisations, have attended the event.

Government is eager to facilitate UK investments in a number of economic sectors, according to FM Shoukry.
