Today, Thursday, Telecom Egypt reported that so far, no proposals have been made to purchase a portion of its ownership stake in Vodafone Egypt.
In a report to the Egyptian Stock Exchange, Telecom Egypt further stated that the company will be publicly publicised if any agreement is reached with it.
The Qatar Investment Authority is in talks to purchase 20% of Egyptian Telecom Company’s stake in Vodafone Egypt, according to the Bloomberg Agency, the East, which reported this information yesterday, Wednesday.
According to Bloomberg, the Telecom Egypt Company currently holds a 45% stake in Vodafone Egypt, but that percentage will drop to 25% if the deal goes through.
According to Bloomberg, the Qatar Investment Authority plans to spend $2.5 billion to acquire 20% of Telecom Egypt’s stake in Vodafone Egypt as well as several other businesses that aren’t publicly traded.
