The Arab League condemns the escalation of Israeli violations in the West Bank

The League of Arab States’ General Secretariat strongly denounced the Israeli occupation authorities’ continued use of the military war machine and the dispersal of terrorist settlers gangs in various West Bank locations, particularly in Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood, “The town of Anata,” and “Shuafat camp,” which has been under a strict military siege for more than a week.

The Israeli government is entirely responsible for this aggression, terrorism, crimes, and ongoing violations against the Palestinian people, according to a statement released today, Wednesday, by the Assistant Secretary-General, head of the Palestine sector and the occupied Arab lands at the League of Arab States, Ambassador Dr. Saeed Abu Ali. He also warned of the consequences of Israel’s continued escalation, saying that it will ignite the situation and endanger stability and peace in the region.

He emphasised that the occupation authorities’ heinous crimes and serious violations, which were committed in blatant defiance of the international community’s wishes and the relevant international legitimacy decisions as well as international laws and covenants, increased the burden on this society and its concerned bodies to put an end to the aggression and criminality and to end the siege and various ongoing violations, particularly in Jerusalem.

Using the principles and provisions of international law, Ambassador Abu Ali urged the international community to take immediate action to put an end to these crimes, stop using “double standards,” and hold the Israeli occupation authorities accountable. He also urged the community to step up efforts and pressure in order to provide the Palestinian people with an effective international protection system.

He drew attention to the various forms of abuse and collective punishments that the people living in the “Shuafat camp” are subjected to. Nablus has been under the same siege for a number of days, and the attacks and grave violations of the most basic human rights, such as intentional killing and field executions, arrest, destruction of homes and facilities, and cutting of roads, have increased.

The facts and reports from the relevant international organisations confirm “Abu Ali’s” warning against the continuation of the occupation authorities’ plans to carry out ethnic cleansing, uprooting, and displacement, which show that 2022 will be one of the bloodiest years of Israeli aggression, during which more than 170 martyrs will rise.

The increase in Israeli transgressions in the West Bank is condemned by the Arab League.
