Malaysia announces the holding of general elections on November 19

Malaysia’s Electoral Commission stated today, Thursday, that the date of the nation’s general elections has been set as November 19.
In a press conference covered by Radio “Chanile News,” the head of the Commission, Abdel-Ghani Saleh, explained that the early vote will take place on November 15, while the nomination requests would be accepted starting on November 5.

More than 21 million people are eligible to vote to elect representatives in the council of 222 seats, and the party or coalition that wins a simple majority, or 112 seats, will form the next government, he continued. The election campaign will last for 14 days, beginning on the date that candidates announced their candidacies and ending at midnight on November 18.

In order to prepare for general elections before the end of the year, Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Ismail Sabri Yaqoub, announced the dissolution of Parliament on October 10.

Malaysia declares that general elections will take place on November 19th.
