Karim Benzema, a French striker, led Real Madrid to a 3-0 victory over Elche on Wednesday in the tenth round of the Spanish League as he celebrated winning the Golden Ball as the greatest player in the world.
Benzema, who participated essentially after two days of winning the Golden Ball award, scored the second goal of his team after a charming game with Brazilian Rodrigo, ended with a ground shot to the left of goalkeeper Edgar Badia (in the 75th minute), in his fifth goals this season in the league during 7 games after his return from injury.
But Benzema’s good fortune ran out as the assistant video referee “Al-Far” nullified two goals because of infiltration in the sixth and sixty-first minutes.
After a shot from the Brazilian Vinicius Junior deflected into the Uruguayan at the edge of the penalty area, fired by a missile on the left foot into the net, in the 11th minute, Real Madrid’s outstanding Federico Valverde opened the scoring.
After a pivotal ball from Rodrigo, Marco Asensio added a third goal for Real before the final horn (89th minute).
With this victory, Real Madrid raised its score to 28 points at the top of the league table, while Elche’s balance was frozen at 3 points in the last 20th place.
