A man was arrested in the vicinity of the US Congress building in possession of weapons

The American police detained a man on Wednesday who was in the area of the Congress building and had weapons in a truck.
According to the police, an 80-year-old Georgia man was illegally detained on the grounds of the US Congress (Capitol) in Washington on Wednesday after three firearms were discovered in his truck. The man said that he wanted to give documents to the Supreme Court.

Tony Payne from Tanil Hill, Georgia, was detained by Congress police on one count of bringing weapons to the Capitol, according to a written statement from Congress police.
Two of the truck’s passengers were held by the police but not the other.
At around 3:45 p.m. local time, Congress police officers observed a white automobile making an unauthorised stop close to the US Supreme Court building. When they approached, the three passengers claimed they were there to deliver the documents to the court.

Police said Payne told the officers that he had weapons in the truck, and the search resulted in finding two pistols, gun, tube and ammunition boxes.
Numerous people are detained each year for bringing guns to Congress, she pointed out.
