A day after news surfaced that the Pentagon was considering footing the bill for the Starlink Internet service in Ukraine, billionaire Elon Mask declared that the US Department of Defense had not provided any cash for Speus X’s Starlink services.
According to the richest man in the world, who also oversees Tesla, “SpaceX is losing nearly $ 20 million per month in unpaid service and costs connected to security measures to defend the Internet, but we will continue to do so.”

Additionally, he stated that SpaceX spent roughly 80 million dollars to allow and sustain Starlink in Ukraine, in addition to spending about 20 million dollars each month to maintain satellite services there.
It is notable that US officials involved in the discussions were quoted by the Politico publication as saying that the Pentagon is thinking about paying Ukraine service fees.
CNN noted on Thursday that SpaceX reportedly wrote to the Pentagon last month stating that it was unable to continue funding the Starlink service in Ukraine and could have to discontinue unless the US military provided it with tens of millions of dollars each month.
