South Korea records the first bird flu in 6 months

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, South Korea discovered a case of avian flu on a duck farm today, on Wednesday, for the first time in around six months.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the incidence was reported on a farm in the province of Yachon, 165 kilometres southeast of Seoul.
As part of preventive steps to stop the spread of a highly contagious viral disease, Prime Minister Han Duck-Sous instructed the authorities to execute chickens within a 500-meter radius of the farm.

The ministry said that, based on the report, the authorities cordoned off the farm and carried out quarantine procedures, including the execution of about 9,800 ducks raised there, as a preventive step..
