North Korea: We launched artillery shots as a warning due to South Korea’s military training

According to the joint staff in Seoul on Wednesday, North Korea launched artillery shells on a buffer zone with South Korea in an effort to ease tension on the Korean Peninsula.
According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Pyongyang launched 150 additional artillery shells into the East Sea at 11 p.m. local time after firing roughly 100 shells into the Yellow Sea around 10 p.m. local time.

Artillery shells landed in the buffer zones in the east and west, which were created as part of a 2018 deal between the two Koreas to ease military tension.

The commission issued the following statement: “We strongly urge North Korea to cease its work immediately because the continuous North Korean provocations are acts that undermine peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the international community. The firing of artillery shells in the eastern and western buffer zones is a clear violation of the military agreement concluded on September 19.

North Korea: Because of South Korea’s military preparation, we fired warning shots from our artillery.
