Biden seeks to re -put the issue of abortion at the forefront of the voters’ priorities

US President Joe Biden is attempting to re-energize Americans about the freedom of women to have abortions three weeks before the mid-term elections. He has promised to incorporate this topic in federal legislation if the Democrats win a majority in Congress.

Biden is banking on the ire generated by the Supreme Court’s decision to revoke the constitutional right to abortion to attract the voices of the left and the centre, despite the rising discontent over inflation and the risks of entering an economic recession undermining the chances of his party’s victory in this entitlement.

In June, the Supreme Court abolished a historic ruling in a case known as the “Rawa Agree” case, which was devoted half a century ago the right of the Americans to abort, and restored the states freedom to take a decision on this social issue.
In an address before the democratic party in Washington, Biden remarked, “Remember what you felt on that day. Anger, worry, and awe.”

Republicans in Congress have pledged to enact a federal ban on abortion if they win control of Congress in the elections on November 8th. He said, “During four months, laws that restrict abortion come into force in 16 states.”
“Let’s be clear: The presidential veto will be used if a law like this is passed in the coming years.
But he pointed out that the best way to “stop these extremist laws” is to pass a law at the federal level “to establish (Ro against Wade) permanently.

He urged voters to send more Democrats to the House of Representatives, saying, “We are missing a few votes these days.
He continued, emphasising that this is “a guarantee,” “If you do so, I assure you that the first project that it refers to Congress would be intended to establish a law.
He declared, “I’ll sign it in January, fifty years from now.

Abortion is a topic that Biden wants to return to the top of voters’ concerns.
