The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued a statement rejecting Borrell’s comments and labelling them as racist, stressing that they contribute to the global spread of intolerance and bigotry.
The Office of the Supreme Actor was asked to provide a written interpretation on Borrell’s harmful and racist statements. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, represented by Mohamed Saif Al-Shehhi, Director of the European Affairs Department, and Reem Kett, called for the Deputy Assistant Minister for Political Affairs, Emile Polsen, Acting President of the European Union Mission to the State.
The remarks made by Borrell are disappointing since they come at a time when all parties understand how important it is to respect different religions, cultures, and ethnicities as well as principles like tolerance, cohabitation, and pluralism.
The UAE criticises the statements made by the Supreme Representative of the European Union.
