Riyadh: We continue to support international efforts to bring peace in Yemen

News from Al-Madinah: On Tuesday, the Saudi Cabinet reiterated what the Kingdom had said during a Security Council meeting on Yemen, including its continued support of international efforts to bring peace to the country and its call for the international community to designate the Houthi militia as a terrorist organisation, boycott it, and cut off its funding sources.

This came during a session of the Council headed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, at Al Salam Palace in Jeddah, according to the Saudi Press Agency “SPA”.
It is interesting that Ambassador Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Wasl of Saudi Arabia, who represents his country at the UN, stated last Thursday that the Houthis should no longer be considered a terrorist organisation.

It was also stated that the Houthi militia prevented the ceasefire and is still laying siege to Yemeni cities.
Last Monday, UN representative to Yemen Hans Grendberg voiced sadness about the failure to extend the cease-fire, highlighting the significant risks involved.
This came after international endeavors failed to extend the previous international truce that ended on October 2.

It is notable that the Yemeni sides decided to prolong the truce for two more months under the same conditions, from August 2 to October 2, 2022, as the UN declared on August 2.

This prolongation followed a prior international ceasefire on all fronts of the conflict in Yemen that went into effect in April (2022) for a length of time. The provinces to improve the freedom of the movement of individuals inside Yemen, and to facilitate the entry of 18 fuel -carrying ships into the ports of Hodeidah in western Yemen within two months, in addition to allowing two air flights to and from Sanaa International Airport weekly.

However, the Houthi militia obstructed last week, extending that truce for the third time, informing unacceptable conditions.
