Ontario Parks to reduce maximum camping stays during height of summer

In response to an increase in demand, Ontario Parks says it will shorten the maximum stay at a number of provincial campgrounds next summer.
Algonquin Provincial Park and Sandbanks Provincial Park are two of the few locations that will limit reservations to seven days from July 1, 2023, to Labor Day weekend, according to the department.

Between those dates, the majority of other parks will impose a 14-day limit, but a few will maintain the current 23-day limit, which will apply to all parks outside of the summer.
According to Ontario Parks, the choice was taken in response to complaints from “countless” tourists who were disappointed to lose out on camping reservations due to strong demand.
The quantity of reservations reportedly increased from 4. 3 million to over 6 in 2014. 6,000,000 in 2021.

Ontario Locations advises going to parks that permit 23-day bookings, making road excursions between parks, or making off-season reservations if you wish to enjoy longer camping periods next summer.

Ontario Parks will limit the length of time campers can stay during the summer months.
