Lavrov alludes to the possibility of reducing the Russian diplomatic presence in the West

News from Al-Madinah: Sergey Lavrov, the foreign minister of Russia, stated on Tuesday that Moscow will now put more of an emphasis on Asia and Africa since it “does not see any viability” to maintain the same diplomatic presence in the West.
During a meeting with the recent hires of the Russian Foreign Ministry, young graduates, Lavrov stated, “Of course, there is no possibility or desire in maintaining the same presence in Western countries.

He continued, saying that the conditions for Russian diplomats there “are difficult to characterise as humanitarian, issues are continually generated by directing threats.
He also added, “But the most important thing is that there is no work there since Europe decided to close us and suspend any economic cooperation” with Moscow.

What are we to do? We can’t compel people to be friendly toward us, he said, adding that “developing nations in Asia and Africa need, on the other hand, more attention.” He mentioned that Russia has numerous projects there, particularly the commercial, and that “It requires diplomatic keeping up.”

“Under these circumstances, we will, of course, locate the centre of gravity in those nations that are prepared to work with us on the basis of equality and cooperate with us in a way that benefits both of our countries,” Lavrov said in his conclusion.
It is noteworthy that since the Russian attack on Ukraine began on February 24, various Western nations, including the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Austria, have expelled a significant number of Russian ambassadors.
