What did feed companies do to save the “chicks” from death?

While poultry producers in Egypt distributed flyers about feed prices from some companies in which the price per tonne reached 16,800 pounds, with an increase on Sunday prices of 3800 pounds at once, the majority of feed companies have announced raising sales prices for all types of feed in rates that reached 23% starting Monday.

On the one hand, Abdulaziz Al -Sayed, head of the Poultry Division in the Chambers of Commerce, said that companies raised feed prices to range between 16 and 16,800 thousand pounds per ton.
He continued by saying that the production requirement deficit had increased to 50% and that 15% of it had recently been released from customs.

He stated that there is a 50% shortage of supplies for poultry growing and added that even though 15% of that amount was released, it did not help to end the situation.
In a related context, the Egyptian Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Al -Qusayr, said the scenes of the execution of chicks spread as an individual condition, but he did not deny the existence of a crisis among the makers of poultry.

He emphasised that the present global crisis had resulted in decreased shipping and supply operations for commodities like corn and soybeans as well as lower shipping and insurance costs.

It is important to note that MP Mujahid Nassar, a member of the House of Representatives and the Industry Committee in Parliament, requested a briefing from the Central Bank Governor and from the Ministers of Trade and Industry, Finance, and Planning and Economic Development regarding the ongoing crisis of insufficient materials and production requirements and its effects on active and operating factories.

In a request for a briefing, representative Mujahid Nassar stated that the Egyptian national industry is in a serious crisis and that factories in Egypt are suffering from a lack of supplies, production needs, and spare parts ever since the Central Bank issued instructions in February 2022 to stop dealing with collection documents in the implementation of all import operations and work with credits.
