The Arab Regional Branch of the International Council of Archives and the League of Arab States collaborated to hold the annual celebration of the Arab Document Day in Dr. Nevin Mohamed Moussa’s General Authority of the Books and National Documentation House under the theme “The Arab Archives is a bridge to communicate between the peoples.”
With the involvement of the heads and leaders of the archives in the Arab world, Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al-Tamimi, chairman of the Executive Office For the Arab Regional Branch of the International Archive Council.
Egypt, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, Libya, Sudan, the United Arab Emirates (Sharjah), Palestine, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan took part in the launch of a documentary exhibition that served as the event’s prelude.

Another event in which the General Secretariat of the Arab League took part was a documentary exhibition titled “Yemen and the League of Arab States: Eighty Decades of Joint Arab Work.” On behalf of His Excellency Ambassador Ahmed Aboul Gheit, now Professor Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, presented the speech of the University Secretary-General.
The speech of His Excellency Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani, the Egyptian Minister of Culture, was delivered by Hisham Azmi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Culture. A number of memoranda of understanding were signed in the field of document preservation and archive, and awards were given to organisations and individuals working to preserve Arab archives as well as to the Arab regional office of His Excellency the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States.
He ended the celebration of the fourth meeting of the Unified Arab Strategy Executive Committee to recover the Arab archives that had been taken by colonial and foreign nations.
