The Egyptian Music Syndicate stops the singers of festivals temporarily

In accordance with the union’s statement, the council “agreed to temporarily halt the permits issued by the festivals jurisdiction until a meeting is worked to analyse their whole file and in an organised fashion to maintain Egypt’s technical worth.”
After winning the elections held last week to succeed the artist Hani Shaker, Mustafa Kamel, the new captain of the Egyptian musicians, made this choice on the first day of his leadership.
This is not the first decision of its kind issued by the union.

In February 2020, Hani Shaker issued a similar directive, instructing “all tourist facilities, Nile ships, and cafes not to engage with festivals singers.”
The media advisor to the union, Tariq Mortada, told AFP that “during the coming days a committee of the profession will be formed to discuss the file of the festivals singers and they will have the freedom of the decision to judge them,” which may reach their suspension permanently.

He continued by saying that the General Assembly’s decision to defend the nation’s popular taste “came with satisfaction.
Additionally, “festivals” music is a style of electronic music that is accompanied with slang that young people use among themselves in public, sometimes even to the point of making sexual advances and insults.
To promote their songs and music, the owners of this music have used websites like “YouTube” and social networks like “Facebook.”

“Oka and Ortega,” “Hamo Becca,” “Sadat,” and “missiles” are some of the most well-known singers and bands in Egypt.
