The railway network in the nation’s border regions is now protected by the Belarusian armed forces, according to a statement released by the ministry of defence today, Monday.

In a statement, the ministry claimed that “the Belarusian armed forces continue to perform their duties to enhance border security, as bridges, railway crossings, and paths under protection have been placed, and have prepared sites for the use of small weapons and military equipment to prevent sabotage and provocations.” This statement was cited by the Belarusian “Pelta-Fans” news agency.

The statement also stated that “activities aimed at promoting the protection of the state borders also include the regional branches of the Ministry of Interior and the State Border Committee,” indicating that “the main goal of the efforts to strengthen the state borders is to ensure the safety of the Belarus citizens, prevent border violations, and cut off weapons and ammunition channels.

The fact that the expanded border guards have been published on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border, that technical security measures are being used effectively, and that tactical groups of regional border guards are taking part in border protection efforts are noteworthy, according to the Belarusian government border committee.
