Doug Ford supports federal government’s use of Emergencies Act to clear protesters

Premier of Ontario Doug Ford claims to be in favour of the steps taken by the federal government to put a stop to the so-called “Freedom Convoy” protests from the previous winter.
Ford claims that after hundreds of people gathered in downtown Ottawa in January for what local authorities described as an occupation that lasted several weeks, he collaborated with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and a number of mayors.
Those opposed to the government’s enforced COVID-19 safety regulations congregated in Windsor, Ontario, next to the Ambassador Bridge.

In the investigation of how the federal government used the Emergencies Act, which started last week, Ford claims he was not invited to give a testimony.
But he asserts that with regard to the steps done to end the blockade at the border and the occupation in Ottawa, he stands shoulder to shoulder with Trudeau.
Ford says he had zero tolerance for the protesters’ actions, but welcomed them to demonstrate at Queen’s Park in Toronto..
