Coach of Real Madrid, Italian Carlo Ancelotti, commented after his team’s 3-1 victory against Barcelona, a visitor and longtime rival, on Sunday at the top of the ninth-stage matches in the Spanish Football League.
In media statements he made after the meeting, which took place at the (Santiago Bernabeu) stadium, the stronghold of the royal team, Ancelotti stressed the importance of victory, indicating that even in the event of a loss, it would not have been a problem for his team.
Ancelotti stated: I believe this victory was attained in accordance with what we displayed in the first half, in which we were effective in every way on the offensive and defensive levels, and we scored two goals through Karim Benzema and Federico Valverde, and we benefited from that in the second half.
Ancelotti added: Perhaps there was a period of decline in it in the second half, and the presence of some of the players in scoring the only goal of Barcelona, which Ferran Torres scored in the 83rd minute.
The Italian coach stressed that because Barcelona is a strong club, it is normal to lose in any phase of a match against them. However, the first half, when we grabbed control of the game, stands out as an exception.
Ancelotti explained that pushing the young player Rodrigo, who caused the penalty kick from which the Brazilian player scored the third goal of the Real in the time instead of lost for the second half, came at the appropriate time.
Brodero was used in the game, according to the Real coach, not only to score a goal but also to put an end to the discussion, emphasising that his team was in the lead.
The setback, if it occurred, was not a catastrophe for Real, according to Ancelotti, who also added that Real now possessed an advantage thanks to its triumph over its most formidable rivals.
Since the beginning of the current season, the riyal has gone 14 games without suffering a loss in a variety of tournaments. Following this, Ancelotti made the following statement: “We have to sustain this pattern, we wanted a solid start, we are aiming to continue performance and excellent results.”
With this victory, the riyal took sole possession of first place in the Spanish league standings, moving up to 25 points, 3 points ahead of Barcelona, who suffered his first loss in the tournament this year.
