On October 13, Antonio Guterres, the secretary-general of the United Nations, hailed the Declaration of Algeria’s signature by 14 Palestinian groups, praising it as a “good step” toward achieving internal Palestinian unity.
The United Nations Secretary-spokesperson, General’s Stephen Dujarric, issued a statement in which he stated that Antonio Guterres “encouraged all factions to overcome their differences through dialogue, and urged them to follow up on the obligations in the announcement, including the holding of elections.”
