According to the Novosti news agency, explosions were heard in the Russian province of Bilgorod, which borders Ukraine, and the air defence systems in the region were also operational.
The organisation reported that 16 explosions rocked the city at around 11:00 Moscow time, mentioning that the windows were in the heart of the city and activated vehicle alarms.
The Ukrainian military occasionally bomb the area surrounding Bilgorod.
The air defence system was able to successfully intercept all of the missiles fired by the Ukrainian military last Wednesday at Bilgorod.
