In response to China’s threats .. Taiwan: Our sovereignty is a red line

News from Al-Madinah: The Taiwanese Presidential Office declared on Sunday that its people vehemently reject Beijing’s proposal to administer the independent island according to the premise of “one country, two systems,” and that Taiwan will not cede its sovereignty, freedom, or democracy.

The Taiwanese Presidency stated that meeting on the battlefield is not an option and that maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and the surrounding area is a shared responsibility that falls on both parties.

This comes just after Chinese President Xi Jinping claimed that “the solution to the Taiwan issue belongs to the Chinese people and that Beijing will never give up the right to use force with the island” in a speech at the beginning of the ruling Communist Party congress in Beijing.

The Chinese president said, “China must adhere to the leadership of the army’s absolute leadership.

“Shi began the Communist Party’s 20th annual conference on Sunday. The meeting will last for a week and it is anticipated that the Communist Party will win a third term in office and cement its place as the nation’s most powerful leader since “Mao Zedong.”
Xi added with regards to Taiwan, “We have demonstrated our steadfast resolve and capacity to defend the state’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and opposition to Taiwan’s independence via our war against separatists and intervention.

Escalate Tension in the Taiwan Strait has just increased to its greatest point since August of last year (2021), with China using unprecedented force in response to Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Tiba, the US House of Representatives.
Beijing at the time conducted military drills lasting a week with the involvement of combat aircraft, missiles, and warships in Taiwan’s atmosphere and waterways, which Taiwan viewed as preparation for an invasion.

However, Washington retaliated by passing a bill allowing an increase in military support for the partially independent island for a period of four years, stoking the fire and infuriating Beijing.
