Gazprom: Imposing a maximum of Russian gas price will lead to stopping supplies

CEO of the Russian Gas Company Alexei Miller said on Sunday that efforts to set a cap on the cost of Russian gas exports may result in a halt to shipments, echoing a similar threat made by President Vladimir Putin.
While the bloc and the seven group are attempting to impose a maximum of Russian oil and gas, the war in Ukraine has caused European Union customers to cut their imports of Russian energy.

“Such a unilateral decision is of course a violation of existing contracts, which will lead to the cessation of supplies,” Miller said in comments broadcast on government television.
Last month, President Vladimir Putin threatened to cut off the supply of electricity if a price cap was put in place.

The world’s largest supplier of natural gas and the second-largest exporter of oil after Saudi Arabia, Russia, may stop supplying its domestic market, leaving the global economy vulnerable to rising energy costs.
