The Governor of the Bank of England, Andrew Billy, said that interest rates may be raised more than expected to face inflation, according to the British Press Agency, “BA Media”, on Saturday.
This occurred when Billy was claiming that they had a “immediate confluence of ideas” during their Friday conversation with the incoming Treasury Secretary, “Jeremy Hunt.”
In a speech in Washington, Billy reaffirmed that the bank’s officials “would not hesitate” to boost interest rates when necessary to combat inflation while announcing the prospect that a “stronger” response may be required than initially anticipated.
The governor of the England Bank anticipates an increase in interest rates.
