A conference on “tolerance, peace and sustainable development in the Arab world” at the Arab League

The World Council for Tolerance and Peace and the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States will collaborate to hold a high-level conference on tolerance, peace, and sustainable development in the Arab World on October 17–18, 2022, at the General Secretariat’s headquarters in Cairo, according to Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector.

The ambassador emphasised that the conference aims to shed light on the initiatives taken by national institutions, international organisations, and non-governmental organisations to combat hatred and intolerance and promote a culture of tolerance. It will also examine the current state of the laws enacted to do so and discuss future plans for their development, keep track of the difficulties that hatred and intolerance face, and anticipate the publication of The C.

The conference will be held in the presence of His Holiness, Pope Tawadros II- Pope of Alexandria and the Patriarch of the Coptic Church, the owner of the Patriarch of the Cardinal Mar Bishara Boutros, the overall sponsor, the Patriarch of Antioch, and the other East of the Maronites, as well as a number of ministers of culture, endowments, and religious affairs in member states as well as a number of Arab personalities, according to Ambassador Haifa.

The conference will cover a number of key topics, including: combating hatred and promoting a culture of tolerance in religious discourse between reality and hope, combating hatred in national legislation and its function in solidifying the values of tolerance in society, the media’s influence on the spread of these values and the sustainability of intergroup peace, and the role of governmental and non-governmental organisations in combating hatred and promoting a culture of tolerance. The role of civil society, national and international institutions, and research on addressing hate issues and promoting the values of tolerance, as well as development at the global and regional levels, are all important factors in battling hatred, promoting a culture of tolerance, and rebuilding societies.
