Wellington County clerk set to retire after long career in municipal government

Donna Bryce, the Wellington County Clerk, is retiring after 27 years in the government.
At the County Council meeting on September 29, she made her plans public.
For the past 12 years, Bryce has worked for the County of Wellington. She has previously worked for the Legislative Assembly of Ontario and the Region of Peel.
Being the county clerk and working with all the members is such an honour, said Bryce. “We worked really hard to develop good relationships between Council and staff.

Donna has always had an extremely high bar for herself and her staff, according to warden Kelly Linton. In Wellington County, her vast experience, expertise, and professionalism will be missed.
Bryce will leave her position on December 30 and believes that is an appropriate moment for her to retire.
Before the year is over, there is a lot of work to be done, according to Bryce. “We do some election work even though we don’t administer the (municipal) election.

“Transferring our previous council to the new council requires a lot of work. We swear in the new council and choose a new warden at a crucial first meeting.
Bryce received a degree in political science at McMaster University in Hamilton before getting summer jobs at the Town of Dundas and the City of Hamilton. She claims that it served as the beginning of her career in municipal government.

“You really need to go looking if you want to get into a given sector, especially when you are in university,” advised Bryce. “Students’ co-op programmes actually open the door for them.”
Bryce claims that she plans to travel and spend more time with her husband, who is also retired.
Bryce declared, “I’m entering the last portion of my life.” “I’m well and in a fantastic place to accomplish other things right now that I’m sure will be just as great,” the speaker said.

Following a long career in local government, Wellington County Clerk is about to retire.
