According to the Turkish Minister of Health Fakhruddin Qawa, the explosion at a coal mine in the north of the country resulted in at least 22 fatalities and 17 injuries.
Eight of the injured, according to Goga’s tweet on his Twitter account, are in critical condition.
Earlier on Friday, Turkish Interior Minister Suleiman Sweilo shouted that 110 workers were in the mine at the time of the explosion, adding that 49 of them were in the deep parts of the mine where the danger was greater.
The probable gas explosion from the mine happened at around 6:15 p.m. (local time), according to energy minister Fateh Dunmaz, although the cause has not yet been determined.
The procedure for transferring the injured to ambulances was captured on camera by the CNN Turk channel.
Due to lax safety measures, Turkey has a strong track record with mines.
