The strikes of Kurdistan, Iran, and protests at Tehran universities

With the protests entering Iran to enter its fifth week, in condemnation of the death of the Kurdish young woman, Muhsa Amini, amid the violent crackdown campaign launched by the authorities in an attempt to stop them, several cities in Kurdistan governorate, west of the country, carried out comprehensive strikes.
In Senndge, the Kurdistan region’s capital, as well as Mariwan, Saqz, and other places, the stores and markets have shut their doors.

According to the “International International” network, videos from Saqz showed both locked shops and markets devoid of vendors.
Mariwan also joined the movement, and its stores closed amid calls for a general strike that completely paralyzed the movement.

As for Tehran, students from the University of Ferchkan and the Free University also participated in a large demonstration, chanting anti-government slogans and the call to action “Woman of the Hayat of Freedom,” which has been used by protesters nationwide since the movement’s inception about a month ago.

Activists have been urged to participate in a national uprising today, Saturday, along with youth groups in Ahvaz, Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz, and other cities throughout the previous several days.
It is significant that Amini’s death, which occurred on September 16 three days after her detention by the Ethics Police and subsequent transfer to a Tehran hospital, ignited enormous protests across the nation that have not yet dissipated.

In order to surround the demonstrators and stop the spread of calls for demonstrations, the authorities periodically cut off Internet access from mobile phones.
The officials also accused the demonstrators of dependency abroad, and betrayed them, while the security forces arrested hundreds, including university students and school students.

According to a study released on October 12 by the Iranian Human Rights Organization, the security forces’ use of violence resulted in the deaths of at least 201 persons.
