The 2022 American high schools had the lowest ACT scores in more than three decades, according to a test that was administered on Wednesday. The ACT is a single exam used for college admission that is administered by a nonprofit organisation of the same name. The organization said in a press release this year, the average ACT degree was the lowest since 1991.
The average grades have dropped for the last five years in a row.
Godwin said that the size of this year’s declines is particularly concerned, as we see increasing numbers quickly from the elderly who leave high school without meeting the criterion of university readiness in any of the topics we measure. ”
According to ACT data released this week, more than 40% of 2022 high school graduates failed to achieve even one of the requirements for ACT preparation, which include proficiency in English, reading, mathematics, and science.
The declines, however, are “evidence of the long-term systematic failings that were exacerbated by the pandemic,” not just because of the outbreak. She stated that the pre-pandemic state of affairs would not be adequate and would be harmful to both instructors and kids.
