Russia and Central Asian countries: We pledge to combat global security threats

Following the Central Asian and Russian summit on Friday, the leaders of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan released a joint statement highlighting their commitment to fighting terrorism, extremism, illegal immigration, and drug smuggling.

In the statement, which was reported by the excerpts of the Russian “TASS” agency, based on our basic responsibility for guaranteeing security, we will continue to enhance the hexagonal cooperation and exchange information in order to combat terrorism, extremism, illegal immigration, drug production and illegal trafficking in it. In order to promote peace and security, this coordinated effort will take into consideration regional operations as well as those of international organisations.

“We call for dialogue and efforts to create a more stable international security structure based on equality and respect for the interests and concerns of all parties because of the complex military and political situation in the world, the rising risks, widespread tensions, and the potential for conflict.
“We urge coordination of efforts to address risks to global information security that could aggravate conflict in the media landscape.

Additionally, we recognise the significance of stepping up efforts at the national, bilateral, and global levels, particularly in the fight against the use of information and communications technology for illegal activities, the statement said.
On Friday, the Central Asian summit with Russia took place in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. This was the first meeting of its kind that coincides with the thirtieth anniversary of Russia’s diplomatic relations with the five Central Asian countries..
