Nigeria: The floods lead to the lives of 500 people and flood 90,000 homes

The Ministries of Humanitarian and Disaster Management in Nigeria announced that the widespread floods in the country have claimed the lives of more than 500 people and flooded about 90,000 homes in water, and also obstructed food and fuel supplies.
According to the two federal departments, 1. 4 million people were affected by the floods, which swept through 27 of Nigeria’s 36 states.

The unusually high rains that have been increasing since early summer, according to Nigerian authorities, are what led to this year’s floods.
In turn, Mustafa Habib Ahmed, Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency, said in a statement “The size of the catastrophe . . . huge,” according to Reuters.

It is noteworthy that Nigeria has seen its worst flooding in ten years, and this is attributed to unusually strong rains as well as a torrent of water from the nearby Laghdo Dam in Cameroon.

Nigeria: The floods claim 500 lives and inundate 90,000 dwellings.
